Join us at Sunflower Star Laboratory in Moss Landing on Valentine’s Day 2/14/25 to celebrate the one year anniversary of the spawning of the Cupid Cohort. This was the first successful spawning under human care of sunflower stars in California and essentially the birthday of all our juvenile sunflower stars.
The Spawniversary will include:
A marketplace featuring art and photos from artists who have supported the lab in the past (List of Artists)
Tours of the lab to visit with the birthday stars (RESERVE A TIME IN ADVANCE)
Birthday and/0r kelp forest themed activities
A chance to mix and mingle with fellow starfriends
Food will be available for purchase in the area.
If you’re looking for another fun activity to pair with the Spawniversary, our next door neighbor, Monterey Bay Ecotours, will be running a special 5pm Valentine’s Day Sunset Cruise of Elkhorn Slough in their electric catamaran. The tour includes a charcuterie board for two. Tickets can be purchased on their site.

Celebra con nosotros en el Sunflower Star Laboratory (Laboratorio de la Estrella Girasol) en Moss Landing el día de San Valentín. Será el primer aniversario de la Cohorte de Cupido. Este fue el primer reproducción exitoso de la estrella girasol con cuidado humano en California. 2/14/25 será el cumpleaños de todas las estrellas juveniles en el laboratorio.
El evento incluirá:
Un mercado de arte y fotos de artistas solidarios (artistas)
Recorridos por el laboratorio para visitar a las estrellas (RESERVA UNA HORA)
